Dhoni banned for 2 ODIs, Sehwag to lead
Indian captain MS Dhoni was banned for two ODIs due to slow over-rate in India’s narrow loss in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka at Nagpur. The decision to ban Dhoni was taken by match referee Jeff Crowe.
“ICC Match Referee, Jeff Crowe, has imposed an immediate Two Match suspension on M S Dhoni for slow over-rate after conducting a hearing last night,” the BCCI said in a statement. The Indian players have been penalised 40 per cent of their match fees.
“The Indian team for the next two ODIs will be led by Virender Sehwag,” the brief statement added.
The Indian team management is tight-lipped about Yuvraj Singh’s availability but chances are that explosive left-hander will play tomorrow’s third one-dayer against Sri Lanka.
Yuvraj, who missed the first and second one-dayers due to injury and flu, took part in a practice session here today and looked quite comfortable in the nets.
On being asked if Yuvraj will play tomorrow, stand-in skipper Virender Sehwag said, “We will take a decision tomorrow.”
